CMM Sundays LIVE! Series: An Octet of Flute, Violin, Viola, Cello, Harp & Piano
About this Event

An octet featuring flutists Lana Stafford and Dustin White, violinists Noah Fields and another, violist William Ford Smith, cellist Kate LaVerne, harpist Jessica Wilder Hart Wilbee, and pianist Sabine Krantz present chamber music for flutes, strings, and piano. This program will feature music of Jean Cras, Claude Debussy, and Yuko Uebayashi.

Flutist Dustin White received his Master of Music degree from West Virginia University and his Bachelor of Music degree from SUNY Potsdam’s Crane School of Music. His debut solo album Ri Ra (Mon Hills Records) explores the intersection of Western contemporary art music and Middle Eastern flute traditions. His principal teachers include Nina Assimakopoulos, Kenneth Andrews, and John Oberbrunner.

Flutist Lana Stafford earned her bachelor’s and master's degrees in flute performance from the University at Buffalo (SUNY). Lana has given flute recitals across Central New York, in addition to performing with the Society for New Music, Civic Morning Musicals, Syracuse Chamber Orchestra, and Syracuse Vocal Ensemble.

Jessica Wilder Hart Wilbee earned degrees in Harp Performance at Eastman and Epidemiology from the University of Rochester. Jessica is the Principal Harpist for the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra and has performed with Symphoria, Erie Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes, and Binghamton Philharmonic. Jessica is a member of the B Sharp Music Club and Convergence Harp Duo.

Noah Fields is entering his fourth season as a violinist in Symphoria. His principal teachers are Lawrence Dutton, Rebecca Albers, and Scott Woolweaver. In addition to degrees in music performance, he holds an undergraduate degree in English from Williams College.

William Ford-Smith is a professional violist who grew up in Queens, NY and received his B.M. from The Eastman School of Music in 2014. He continued his education at the Conservatory of Music at Lynn University, receiving a Professional Performers Certificate in 2019. He is a member of Symphoria.

Cellist Kate LaVerne is an Acquisitions Assistant at Cornell University’s Sidney Cox Library of Music and Dance, as well as assistant principal cello of the Syracuse Chamber Orchestra. Kate lives in Baldwinsville with her family.

Pianist Sabine Krantz studied piano pedagogy and performance at the Norwegian State Academy of Music in Oslo and completed her Master’s in vocal pedagogy from Syracuse University in 2021. In 2022 she co-founded the Syracuse Youth Chorus.

CMM (Civic Morning Musicals) exists to support classically trained musicians and their audiences throughout the Central New York region. It is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization, which produces more than 30 concerts a year and sponsors activities for young musicians.
