MUSICAL AUDITIONS: Nanyehi - The Story of Nancy Ward
Open auditions will be held in mid-July for nearly 30 roles in the upcoming staging of “Nanyehi – The Story of Nancy Ward,” a historical musical celebrating a legendary 18th-century Cherokee peace advocate.
The production, presented by Cherokee Nation Businesses and Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa, is scheduled to return to Hard Rock Live Tulsa on Oct. 9 and 10. Casting calls are open to actors, singers, and dancers of all ages, with auditions set for July 18 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and July 19 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Theatre Tulsa, located at 5521 S. Peoria Ave.
The production is seeking to fill prominent roles, including several paid speaking parts with musical numbers, such as Kingfisher (Nanyehi’s first husband), War Chief Oconastota, and Young Nanyehi for performers ages 7 to 12. Opportunities are also open for warriors, contemporary dancers, white settlers, and ensemble vocalists. Rehearsals are scheduled to begin Sept. 8.
