Music Through The African Diaspora
Description
On Saturday, February 25th, Silver Spring United Methodist Church will host an event titled
"Music Through the African Diaspora" in celebration of Black History Month. The event, which will run from 4PM to 5:15PM will be to teach about and share the evolution of African sounds as they traveled from Western Africa to American and other parts of the world. Our Teaching Performances will include:
--Mahiri Fadjimba Keita-Edwards - Presentation on Music of West Africa
--Nicole Newman - The Sounds of the Blues and Early Gospel
--Lionel Lyles - The Evolution of Jazz and Gospel Jazz
