We are very excited to perform the dramatic and beautiful “Scene Andalouse” by composer Joaquin Turina of Seville, Spain (1812-1949). This work is written for piano quintet accompanying a virtuosic viola solo played by guest Rachel McDonald. Turina is musically describing southern Spain, Andalusia, known for its vibrant culture, famous for flamenco music and dance, tapas, and diverse landscapes from mountains to beaches.
The piano quintet includes violinists LeeAnne Chenoweth and Keyreel Raskolenko, violist Claire Ross, cellist Alice Jeon-A Lee, and pianist Heejung Kang. The rest of the program will include music of Enrique Granados and Juan C. Arriaga, plus song selections in the Spanish language by our soprano Youna Hartgraves and tenor Sergio Cepeda.
We provide complimentary wine/soft drinks/snacks. There are only 80 seats at this location, so don’t delay getting your tickets! It is an intimate recital-style seating venue. Please stay and mingle after the concert!
Tickets:
General $40
Senior $35
College students and teachers K-12 $15
Youths ages 11 through seniors in high school may attend for free, but we must be notified to reserve the seats. (not recommended for kids under 11)
