Featuring The Mysore Violin Brothers

Dr. M. Manjunath and M. Nagaraj, Violins

Rajarao, and Giridhar Udupa, South Indian Percussion

Enjoy some of India’s finest musicians, The Mysore Violin Brothers and their touring ensemble with accompanying percussionists. These musicians are absolute masters of their art of improvisation and sound vibration. The Indian classical Ragas (melodies) and Rhythms truly transport the listener to another realm, a divine place of meditation and beauty. This is the exhilarating music of the heart. We are honored to share these four Maestros who play on an International stages and tours on thier first ever Montana appearance.

Nagaraj and Manjunath are brothers who have been playing the violin their entire lives, and were taught at home by their father who was also a well-known violinist in India. They have an almost telepathic synchronicity with each other when they play. Their spontaneous improvisations are like sound poems created and then spoken through the music between them.

The drummers, Rajarao and Giridhar Udupa play the traditional South Indian instruments, the Mridangam-- a barrel shaped like drum with different pitches, and a “clay pot” called the Ghatam. Their skill and mathematics of rhythm intricacies are far beyond what we know in western music…everyone in the masterful ensemble joins in to the improvisational conversations between musicians with call and response intricate solo passages.

As Indian music is played as a meditation and a spiritual path, these celestial Artists truly transport listeners to a divine state of being, the vibrations are pure and loving, and this music will transform and heal.

We hope you will join us for this special evening of music, community and sound healing. Tickets are available in advance for $20 online and at Sacred Mysteries Bookstore in Livingston (113 W Park St.) ...or $25 at the door the evening of the show. Kids under 12 free.
