On March 15th at 3pm in 1969 Music Millennium opened its doors and the rest, as they say, is history. Throughout the years the store has seen formats come and go, but the resurgence of vinyl and its continuing trend upward has breathed new life into record stores around the world. 2022 was a record year for vinyl with over 43.46 million albums sold. Since 1969, Music Millennium has weathered the highs and lows, welcomed over 4,500 live music performances, and remained a touchstone for music lovers all over the world. The store celebrates its success and longevity with live music performances and deals all month long.
On Wednesday March 15th at 6pm, Music Millennium will commemorate its Anniversary with cake and beverages and the playing of “All Too Much” by The Beatles – the first song played when the store opened its doors in 1969. Cake will be followed by Australian psych-rock legends The Church on the mezzanine stage. The Church release their first album in six years ‘The Hypnogogue’ on February 24th. Founding member, Steve Kilbey's ethereal pneumatic warble and "reptilian bass" hold sway, especially as the new album melodies get more psychedelic and prog-rock intricate. The Church’s ever evolving sound embraces the fierce creativity of their early years, while thematically embracing concepts of a dystopian future.
