Based in the UK the Marmen Quartet is: Johannes Marmen violin; Laia Valentin Braun violin; Bryony Gibson-Cornish viola; Sinead O’Halloran cello. In 2019 they won the Grand Prize at the Bordeaux International String Quartet Competition and joint First Prize at the Banff International String Quartet Competition.
In January 2025 the group released their newest recording which is already garnering awards. Their performance has been described as having “vibrant virtuosity” (Gramophone) and “energetic vitality” (BBC Music).
Highlights of the 24/25 season include recitals in Wigmore Hall and in Cambridge UK Frankfurt a week at the Ortús Chamber Music Festival Cork Ireland and a North American tour.
After their Music in the Afternoon debut was cancelled due to the pandemic we are thrilled that their availability and ours have finally coincided. The Marmen Quartet will perform Haydn's "Joke" Quartet Bartok no. 3 Debussy op. 10 and a new work by brilliant young New Zealand composer Selina Fisher.
Don’t miss this rare opportunity to see the internationally renowned Marmen Quartet perform in an intimate setting.
