As fall settles in and the theater darkens, VCB invites you on an evening of dramatic storytelling told entirely through music. Our journey begins with the atmospheric world of Danny Elfman, where curious shadows and flickering colors set the tone for an unforgettable night.
Energy rises with the grand spectacle of “Parade of the Charioteers,” followed by the vibrant rhythm of “Albanian Dance,” bringing a burst of autumn warmth to the stage. The mood deepens as dramatic figures appear - the intense edge of Sweeney Todd, the haunting beauty of the Phantom, and the playful spark of Offenbach’s Orpheus - each revealing a new shade of character and emotion.
Gounod’s ballet music from Faust draws us briefly into the supernatural, a moment where the air feels charged and the band glows with otherworldly color. And then the tension builds toward the final arc of the night.
Our adventure reaches its peak with Prokofiev’s “Montagues and Capulets,” one of the most powerful symphonic statements ever written. Massive, commanding, and unmistakably iconic, it captures the weight of destiny, ancient feuds, and the full dramatic force of Romeo and Juliet. It’s a breathtaking end - a final stride into darkness and grandeur.
