Music Cleveland! is pleased to present Randy Napoleon and his trio at the intimate Bop Stop in Ohio City’s Hingetown. If you haven’t been to the Bop Stop then you are in for a treat - a relaxed atmosphere with a great menu.
We first met Randy several years ago when he was lead guitar for the late Freddy Cole. We also saw him in CLE performing with the lovely Melissa Morgan (be still my heart…). Just last month Randy was back in CLE with John Pizzarelli and the John Clayton All-Star Orchestra as the closing act for the Tri-C JazzFest. Such a great evening.
We’ll be treated to special reserved seats at the Music Cleveland! table right up front … and group members will get to meet Randy after the show! That’s pretty cool but you must purchase your tickets in advance and RSVP following the detailed instructions below.

COVID POLICY: BOP STOP As of 4/1/22 BOP STOP no longer requires all guests, staff, and performers to show proof of vaccination or produce a negative test result within 72 hours of entering to be admitted into the venue. Masks are required to be worn by staff members and are highly encouraged for guests. Masks are available at the door for no cost. BOP STOP installed a UV air purifier on its HVAC system and the facility is electrostatically cleaned multiple times per week.

National recording guitarist, Randy Napoleon, returns to the BOP STOP with his all-star trio for an engaging evening of jazz.

Known as a forward-thinking musician with a passion for the jazz tradition, guitarist Randy Napoleon is an Associate Professor at Michigan State University. He is currently touring as a leader after twenty years of road apprenticeship with some of the most celebrated musicians and groups of our time.
Napoleon cut his teeth touring with pianist Benny Green, The Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, Michael Buble, and a thirteen year tenure with Freddy Cole. He has also performed with artists across the jazz spectrum such as Bill Charlap, Natalie Cole, Monty Alexander, Rodney Whitaker and John Pizzarelli.
Napoleon has performed or arranged on over seventy records. He arranged as well as performed on Freddy Cole's seven most recent records including the Grammy-nominated releases, Freddy Cole Sings Mr. B and My Mood Is You. He performed on The Clayton Hamilton Orchestra: Live at MCG. Napoleon is featured on Buble's Grammy-nominated CD/DVD Caught in the Act.
Napoleon has played on The Tonight Show, Late Night With David Letterman, The View, The Today Show, and The Ellen DeGeneres show as well as TV shows in South America, Europe and Asia. He has performed across the globe at notable venues including Royal Albert Hall, The Sydney Opera House, The Hollywood Bowl, and Lincoln Center.
Guitarist George Benson calls Napoleon sensational. Detroit Free Press critic Mark Stryker says Napoleon plays with a gentle, purring tone that makes you lean in close to hear its range of color and articulation.
Washington Post critic Mike Joyce praises his exceptionally nimble finger-style technique. Comparing him to Wes Montgomery, music critic Michael G. Nastos says, he displays an even balance of swing, soul, and single-line or chord elements that mark an emerging voice dedicated to tradition and universally accessible jazz values.
Napoleon has four records as a band leader with a fifth, Common Tones, released Oct 4, 2019 on the Detroit Music Factory label.

MUSIC CLEVELAND!
This Facebook group is essentially a promotional page for our artist friends and music lovers around the globe. The pandemic forced us to close our meetup.com home group since live events and gatherings were suspended in 2020. For the duration, we were all about live streaming and personal posts and music from our artist friends!
Now, thanks to the vaccine, the country is opening up for the summer. We are especially excited to present live music in outdoor and curated indoor venues. We will always pay close attention to the current health advisories and vaccine protocols.
We also use this group for sharing videos and announcements for upcoming concerts that we will schedule and attend as a group. Now that a vaccine is readily available for the virus, we are pleased to resume our group activities.
