Guthrie Memorial Library is hosting a talk on "Music as Creative Resistance During the Holocaust" with Deb Smith, on Mondays, February 3rd and February 17th from 6:00 pm - 7:45 pm in the Bare Center.
Creative resistance refers to individuals trying to maintain their humanity, personal integrity, dignity, and sense of civilization in the face of Nazi attempts to dehumanize and degrade them. During the presentation, you will listen to examples of music and look at the lives of musicians during this time. Plan on attending both sessions as each will cover different information.
