Music & Poetry: Ted LaRocca & Open Mic for Writers
About this Event
Ted LaRocca is a fourth-generation trumpet player out of New Orleans, born into a family deeply steeped in jazz history since the early 20th century. Raised on the sounds that shaped the city, his playing reflects a lifetime immersed in the tradition and spirit of the music. Having performed alongside some of New Orleans’ major acts, LaRocca brings both experience and authenticity to every stage he steps on. Now based in Casper, he and his band perform across a wide stretch of the region—from Denver up through Buffalo, Wyoming—while still making appearances in New Orleans, keeping a strong connection to his home.
Drawing inspiration from legends like Louis Armstrong, Louis Prima, Fats Waller, and Louis Jordan, his sound blends Jump Blues, Swing, and traditional New Orleans jazz into something timeless. His music spans from the earliest roots of jazz to the present day, capturing the energy of brass bands, the soul of old dance halls, and the warmth of a late-night club. Both classic and evolving, Ted LaRocca carries the sound of New Orleans forward while staying true to where it all began.
For Open Mic for Writers, writers are invited and encouraged to share their original works in ten-minute time slots.
