There is a lot of science behind the importance of music, movement and our little one's brains:
- Music makes a big difference to the baby brain. One study from the Institute of Learning and Brain Sciences detected that after babies listen to music, their auditory and prefrontal cortexes look different. These are the regions of the brains in charge of processing both music and speech.
- Research shows that exposure to music can also improve children's ability to learn. Music and movement instruction has been shown to improve children's memory, cognitive development, learning skills and expressive ability.
- Music engagement builds spatial reasoning skills, pattern awareness, and counting skills. Active involvement in music provides opportunities to practice many important academic and pre-academic skills.
