About this Event

Join 462 Halsey for a mushroom cultivation workshop led by Ben and Louis from Smallhold Farms, a distributed network of mushroom farms which first started as the only certified organic mushroom farm in Brooklyn.

We’ll be guided through the science of fungi and their ecological benefits as participants build their own mushroom grow kits to take home using easily accessible materials. We’ll end off the workshop integrating spawn into our garden beds and in a designated mushroom growing area at the garden. Grow kit spawn choices include: Blue Oysters, Yellow Oyster, Lion's Mane and we will be using Wine Cap mushroom spawn for the beds and growing area.

Participants are asked to bring their own 1-litre milk jugs, juice cartons and plastic containers to use for their grow kits (we will be drilling into them!). A limited number of plastic containers will be provided if you are unable to bring one.

We ask that participants bring their own milk jug, juice carton or other plastic container to use for their grow kits. We will have a very limited number of containers available for those who can not.
