Alameda’s Libraries
Alameda’s library system is as old as the city itself. It grew from a small set of books in a building near the Central Pacific train station, matured to occupy the “Library Block” on Park Street, and moved into the Carnegie library at the beginning of the 20th century.
November 8 – Bay Farm Island Bell
The museum’s “Bay Farm bell” did call workers from the field on Bay Farm. Before that, however, it was part of a locomotive on the South Pacific Coast Railroad.
