About this Event
Local to Global: The Enduring Power of Orpheus
In connection with the exhibit Christy Lee Rogers: The Muses, The Muses Educational Series will encourage visitors to imagine, engage, and create based on inspiration gained from The Muses through a series of hands-on workshops and events connected with each of the nine Greek Muses.
Join us for an exciting for a film writing workshop at The Parthenon with Jerod Hollyfield, Associate Professor of Media Arts at Middle Tennessee State University! This in-person event is a great opportunity to learn about how Greek myths are adapted to film.
As one of Ancient Greece’s most enduring tragedies, the legend of Orpheus has inspired filmmakers from all over the world for nearly a century. This workshop will trace the importance of Orpheus to international film culture from France and Poland to Australia and the American South. It will also offer an opportunity for attendees to adapt the story to Nashville’s own unique culture. No creative writing or screenwriting experience necessary!
