The Manager of the Municipal and City Bank in Exeter, Mr Douglas Treadwell, was heading home a little later than usual after a busy day at the office when his briefcase was taken, and he was left by the side of the road with fatal injuries. Was his death simply an opportunist street theft that had gone wrong? Or was he silenced because of something he knew or had discovered?
Detective Chief Inspector Appleby has been put in charge of the case and has begun his work, which led him to four key suspects. He has arranged for his suspects to attend today and he is calling on the other guests present to help with his investigation.
