The South El Monte Arts Posse invites community members to celebrate our new mural and to learn about the history of muralism in Greater El Monte.
This mural is part of South El Monte Arts Posse’s decade-long effort to document, showcase, and publicize lost and forgotten histories of El Monte and South El Monte. With funding from the Whiting Public Engagement Fellowship, SEMAP and muralist Alonso Delgadillo and Fernando Mendez Corona will use images from the lost and erased murals, as well El Monte's history, to create a new mural. For questions email Dr. Romeo Guzmán at romeo.guzman@cgu and/or SEMAP at [email protected]
Event starts at 4pm on Sunday, October 10th. Opening remarks by Carribean Fragoza, Ron Reeder, and Chicana and Tonga Elder Gloria Arellanes.
Want to learn more about the history of muralism in El Monte/South El Monte, be sure to join us for our November bike ride (flyer coming soon)
