New Balkan Rhythm workshop
During the workshop, we will learn the basics of the body music technique. Starting from simple sounds like snaps, claps and stomps, we will step by step learn to use body percussion for making odd and even beats. Adding the voice and learning songs from the Balkans will be the next element. Combining all this with movement and dance will bring new dimensions in performing folk music. We'll also do some theater games, warmups of the body and voice and stretching. We will learn more about our body and how to use it as an instrument in performance.

Ana Vrbaški and Marko Dinjaški are music and theater performers and educators from Serbia. They have worked around Europe with children, youth, adults and seniors, teaching body music from 2013. Balkan body music and odd beats have been in their focus for some years, especially since German label CPL Music released their album RikaTaka, New Balkan Rhythm in 2022. The album features songs from the Balkans in eleven languages.
Theater show Kiss they perform since 2016 is a musical duo comedy that speaks to the international audience without words, showing what the art is the universal language that connects us.
They are well known for working for and with kids and teachers in the ex-Yu region.
Since 2022, they organize the New Balkan Rhythm festival, a masterclass of body music for everyone.
