Here comes the bride, here comes the bride, here comes the…gullible misogynist groom?! This whirlwind production of Shakespeare’s dark comedy, Much Ado About Nothing, is nothing short of exhilarating. The pot is stirred, the romance is strong, the patriarchy is (unfortunately) ruling, and the wit is never ending.
Much Ado About Nothing is the story of two loves: a young courtship between Hero and Claudio and a mature union between Beatrice and Benedick. Don John tricks Claudio into believing Hero has cheated on him the night before their wedding. This leads Hero’s father, Leonato, to disown her and Hero’s cousin, Beatrice, to secure a promise from Benedick to K*ll Claudio. It takes a team of fools - Dogberry and his watch - to bring the truth of Hero’s innocence to light and prevent a further tragedy. Much Ado features Salt and Sage regulars Allison Anderson as Beatrice, Bobby Bermea as Benedick, Caitlin Nolan as Don John, David Heath as Leonato, Elliot Lorenc as Dogberry, and Murren Kennedy as Claudio. Nina Pamintuan makes her Salt and Sage debut as Hero.
