-Time: 5:30-8:00pm
-Location: locations will vary each week! Riders will be notified each week of meeting location. Meeting locations will be in Bentonville or Bella Vista.
Who is this for?
-The BEGINNER mountain biker who wants to learn the fundamentals in a safe, encouraging environment.
-The mountain biker who may have some trepidation about hitting the trails, has questions about set up (cockpit, suspension, tires), gear, riding position, where to ride, MTB resources.
-Someone who prefers learning in a small group setting.
-Max enrollment: 8 riders.
-Coach to student ratio 4:1.
-16 yrs. and up.
**There are a lot of skills to be covered in MTB. But do not despair! We will explain the fundamentals in an easy to disgest way, ensuring that you can hit the trails SAFELY and EFFECTIVELY, and CONFIDENTLY ensuring a ton of FUN for years to come! Here are some skills you will be learning and developing:
Fundamental Skills Covered
Neutral and Ready Position, Climbing While Seated Position, Descending While Coasting, Shifting, Finding Flow (scanning/tracking terrain), Pedaling Over Small Roots, Cadence (pedaling for efficiency), Cornering (with control and flow), Effective Braking (without skidding).
Foundational Maneuvers
Front wheel lift, Rear wheel lift, 2 wheel lift (hop), Pedaling wheel lift, Roll downs, Slow tight turns.
Example Trails
All American, Flash Flood, Good Vibrations, Family Flow, Uwabami, Firnas, Black Apple Creek, Skills Park, Moo Moo, Choo Choo, Snow Bird, Tweety Bird. Let's get you riding greens and blues confidently and safely! Green trails, blue trails galore!
Our Goal and Vision by Couse End
We want our MTB riders to be confident riding downhill on dirt singletrack, controlling speed, cornering berms, and navigating small obstacles. We want you to have the skills and fundamentals to make your riding more fun, safer, making obstacles like rocks and roots easier to climb over, and get to the top with energy to ride down smiling.
We are all about building relationships and building community. We encourage our students to safely push their boundaries and progress with confidence. Fundamental Skills, Pre-ride/Re-ride/free-ride, SAFE Progression!
What to Bring each Week
-A mountain bike in good functioning/mechanical condition.
-A helmet in good condition (full face optional).
-Closed toed shoes, made for mountain biking.
-Knee (recommended), elbow, body armor (optional).
-Water and snacks!
