Dear music enthusiasts,Do you want to deepen your understanding of the music that you enjoy listening to? Do you want to make more analytically informed decisions in your performance? Do you want to enrich your compositional techniques? If you said yes to any of these questions, then we have great news for you!!!
The Melbourne University Music Students’ Society (MSS) is organising a Music Analysis Winter School in July 2024 at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. The format will be similar to that of the MMASS (Melbourne Music Analysis Winter School) which ran between 2015 and 2017. The Winter School will run for five days (Mon-Fri) during the first week of July, with each day packed with music analysis lectures on diverse techniques, presented by local and international experts in music analysis, music theory, musicology, composition, performance and more.
Lecturers will include:

▪Justeen Wheatley (PhD Candidate, University of Melbourne),

We will also have a small number of short research papers presented by music analysis research students. (Please contact us if you are interested in presenting!)
The Winter School welcomes both Melbourne-based students as well as interstate and overseas students attending the program. Thanks to a grant from SSAF, we are able to offer 10 rooms at Queen’s College for non-Melbourne-based students free of charge, and we are able to keep the student registration fee affordable.
