Engineering practice Eckersley O’Callag
About this Event
From Apple Campus to Vitsoe via Library Walk.
Join us for a talk from Brian Eckersley, structural engineer and co founder of Structural and Facade Engineering practice Eckersley O’Callaghan.
Brian will look at how innovative use of materials, ranging from glass to carbon fibre, acrylic and timber, has driven the work of Eckersley O’Callaghan over the past twenty years. Their projects include the new Atlassian HQ in Sydney, the Vitsoe factory and Sky Pool in the UK, many projects for Apple around the world. He’ll explain how some of the engineering challenges of the Steve Jobs Theater in California were demonstrated first at Library Walk in Manchester.
Brian Eckersley is a chartered structural engineer and co founder of Structural and FacadeEngineering practice Eckersley O’Callaghan. He studied Civil Engineering followed by Part 1 Architecture and worked on some of the first pioneering glass structures with Tim Macfarlane. Brian has since built a firm of 140 staff with offices in 8 countries, and he remains passionate about good design and the integration of engineering into architecture. The work of the practice is very broad, ranging from refurbishment of historic buildings, advanced timber construction, complex roof forms and innovative glass structures, as well as tall buildings, and facade engineering for all these typologies.
