Formed in 2015 by founding member Clinton Jacob as a joke. Mr.Phylzzz (pronounced Flyzzz) is an ever changing monster of noise. Over time Mr.Phylzzz has formed a heavy wall of sound filled with hooky riffs and melodic vocals- creating a chaotic storm that’s well worth the painful wall of cranked amps and exploding drums. During the growing years, Phylzzz was doing small tours which landed them getting picked up in 2019 by Amphetamine Reptile Records (AmRep) to be featured in the legendary “Dope Guns ‘N Fucking in the Streets” Vol 14 comp. Later that year they released their debut album “Penitent Curtis” (2019), followed by “Cancel Culture Club” (2022) on AmRep. In 2023 the band released “Fat Chance” on Amrep and completed a full US tour supporting The Melvins and Boris.
A driving force in the Minneapolis scene, In Lieu is the next generation of scuffed boots, burning eyes, and refusing to apologize for a level of ingenuity that others are afraid of.
With the sludgy yet bright guitars that grunge was born from, breakneck percussion, and sinuous bass lines, In Lieu has the sonic deviance of walking hot tracks at the start of summer. Coupled with fluidly sweet and powerful vocals and lyricism that will give you emotional whiplash while feeding your god complex, this band is an evolutionary monster that shows everyone what heights and ferocity DIY is capable of.
Brutally vengeful art formed in the bowls of the Twin Cities. Gay Witch Abortion’s debut album MAVERICK jams itself into that sort of a classification. Like a unicorn spearing it’s prey, having so little patience it completely shreads the kittens into tiny morsels of sweet bloody pulp candies. The taste of blood has ruined many a creature, there is a simplistic aura surrounding the violence, drawing you in, just close enough to feel the power, but still leaving an unconquered taste in your soul. So you go back and try it again and again. Getting your senses tugged and thwarted back and forth by the punishing beauty of the hunt.
