About Trans USA
Trans USA is a registered 501(c)(3) organization that aims to develop visible leaders who serve as positive role models in the transgender, nonbinary, and gender non-conforming community through its national event and yearlong advocacy efforts. Members of our leadership team take no salary, and all money raised each year goes directly to supporting our contestants, community, titleholders, and their advocacy projects. At a time when anti-trans violence and legislation have reached critical levels, it is now more important than ever to provide a safe, affirming space for leadership development and an opportunity for trans youth to see the type of excellence possible when we work together as a community.
We depend on sponsorships and donations to provide a truly first-class experience for ALL trans leaders who have joined our movement, and our continued operations would not be possible without your support!
To donate today, visit tinyurl.com/TUSA2024Donate, and help us reach our goal of $25,000 for our national community! For more information on official sponsorship or holding an official fundraising event, please reach out to [email protected] today!
About our Theme
The first group in the United States to organize explicitly around trans rights and self-determination, S.T.A.R. (Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries) emerged following the Stonewall riots, founded by Sylvia Rivera and Marsha P. Johnson. Protesting discrimination and systemic violence against their bodies, clothing, choice of sexual partners, and other markers of identity and expression, trans activists in S.T.A.R., the Queens Liberation Front, and other pioneering New York groups won their first victories in the form of state protections in the early 1970s. They also pushed for inclusion in the gay and women’s liberation movements and established the first shelter of its kind in the nation (S.T.A.R. House on East 2nd Street). While the original S.T.A.R. organization folded in 1973, their pioneering work has inspired generations of activists and trans trailblazers and remains highly relevant in the modern fight for social acceptance, legal protections, and basic human rights.
Our theme for Trans USA 2024, "S.T.A.R. Power" serves not only as an homage to those who have laid the foundation for our own advocacy work but as a reminder that our collective fight is not over until all of us are free to reach for own our place among the stars.
A national competition unlike any other and the largest of its kind worldwide, Trans USA 2024 will feature nearly 100 representatives from across the country vying for three of the most prestigious titles in LGBTQ+ pageantry today. In addition to live entertainment from some of the best performance artists in the industry, attendees of all ages are invited to cheer on our delegates from each state/territory as they compete in on-stage categories including State Costume, Formal Wear, Swimsuit, and Q&A.
Immerse yourself in the complete experience of pageantry at the national level with our gala-style theme (S.T.A.R. Power), honoring Mr. Trans USA 2023 Trey C. Michaels and Miss Trans USA 2023 Anya Marino, for their exceptional advocacy work and visibility during their reign!
