Written a decade before The Magic Flute, Mozart’s glorious Serenade No. 10, “Gran Partita,” shows the composer probing Enlightenment ideals and considering the tenets of Freemasonry upon which he would expand in his final opera. The evening opens with the potent Prelude and Liebestod from Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde, followed by the world premiere of a new concerto for violin and harp by Jüri Reinvere, a composer and published author on political topics.
Performed as part of the 2024 Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Opera & Humanities Festival.
*Ticket holders for Mozart's Gran Partita qualify for and can claim complimentary tickets for the festival’s keynote event on May 15.
