To be in relationship with others is to risk conflict and yet without this risk there is no partnership, no collaboration, no love even.
Some of us are braver than others when it comes to communication and sharing our inner worlds of thought and feelings. You have default interaction patterns which you may or may not be aware of. Are you an ‘avoider’, an ‘accommodator’ or a competitor? Maybe fast to run to compromise. All these patterns have downsides and opportunities for growth. People who navigate complex situations and bring people together with ease are skilled in the ‘collaborator’ mode. This day will give you a few new tools for doing just that.
We can all benefit from sharpening our practice of dealing with conflict professionally and personally and maybe even bring a little more ease into our lives.
In this workshop, you will get to explore the concept of CONFLICT and discover ideas of how you can prevent it, work through it and even benefit from it. To support your learning there will be some theory, discussion and a conflict mode testing exercise that will give you a focused sense of your current default settings. We will blend this with experiential and reflective activities, movement and play.
Participants will leave with:
• Ways to deal with conflict with less stress
• Practical skills and models to try at work and home
• Confidence and awareness to balance your personal approach to conflict
This workshop is a collaboration between Dean Philp from Moving Puzzles and Dan Aubin from Daring Humans. They both bring a a deep, embodied experience from several fields.

About your hosts:
Dan Auban is a communication specialist and recovering people pleaser. Through Daring Human he has been supporting leaders and teams to have ‘daring conversations’ for connection, creativity, change and impact for nine years. After experiencing an aggressive board take-over as a CEO of a well-loved arts company, he realized how easily a few unchecked communications can range into a bushfire of confusion, anger and disorder. In his consulting work he started to notice how fearful and stuck people were with ‘conflict’. This began a decade long study of connection and disconnection in organisations, 1:1 and in project work. Dan learned that most conflict can be avoided with a foundation of skilful communication and authentic relating. A balancing of self- awareness combined with ongoing practice-based learning can create a calm and courageous approach to moving through conflict. Some conflict is even positive! His diverse experience in education, business, arts, sport and health, have given him a unique perspective as someone who helps others develop high-performance cultures and consider what it is to be a ‘daring human’.
Dean Philp is a play provocateur and the founder of Moving Puzzles, a facilitation service for leadership, innovation and wellbeing. During his 10+ years coaching sports teams, Dean learned a lot about conflict! Unified goals of the game, Dean wondered, do they make resolving conflict easier? Meanwhile, as an Artificial Intelligence researcher for nearly 20 years, he often leads with influence rather than authority. Workplaces, in stark contrast to the sports field, too often resolve conflict with politics and authority! Dean has spent the latter part of his career solving this puzzle through play! He loves to use fun and interaction to build connection, rapport and deep reflection on complex problems. As a Parkour coach, Dean is able to share another deep perspective on conflict; the emotional game of fear and performance! Today he uses Moving Puzzles to focus his sport, art, science into helping humans solve complex problems, playfully and joyfully 😀.
