Join us for an immersive and hands-on workshop designed specifically for Montessori educators committed to Anti-Bias, Antiracist (ABAR) practices. In this workshop, participants will learn how to create and update Montessori materials using an ABAR lens, ensuring that our classrooms are inclusive, affirming, and reflective of the communities we serve.

Moving Beyond the Basics: Anti-bias Education in Montessori is suitable for primary guides (3-6 year-olds) and elementary guides (6-12 years old) who have a strong foundation of the anti-bias education framework.

This in-person workshop aims to dismantle the color-blind assumption and prepare children to work toward justice. This presentation shares concrete ways Montessori guides and classroom educators can support their learners' developing racial, ethnic, and physical identities. Educators will learn how to empower learners, affirm their numerous identities, and challenge pre-prejudice.

Anti-bias Education in Montessori is suitable for primary guides (3-6 year-olds) and elementary guides (6-12 years old) who are beginning to implement the anti-bias education framework.

About the Facilitator:

Britt Hawthorne (she/they) is a nationally recognized antiracist and anti-bias educator, speaker, and advocate. She provides antiracism workshops and anti-bias training for parents and educators, in-person and online. Her anti-oppression work moves the idea of racial justice to reality and practice. Committed to centering and affirming people of the global majority, Britt helps families navigate the world of antiracist parenting. Through partnering with action-oriented educators, she creates classroom environments that are inclusive and equitable for all learners.
