Join Tallahassee Downtown and Tallahassee Film Festival on Saturday, September 27, for a special outdoor screening of Empire Records (1995) in Downtown Tallahassee. Celebrate the film’s 30th anniversary under the stars with blankets, lawn chairs, and all the ’90s vibes as Liv Tyler, Renée Zellweger, Ethan Embry, and the rest of the crew bring teenage rebellion, unforgettable music, and indie spirit back to the big screen. Movie begins at 8:15PM.
The fun starts at noon, when the lawn turns into a stage with an incredible lineup of local music, plus food and beverage vendors to keep you fueled throughout the day. Movie Synopsis:
Starring early-career performances from Liv Tyler, Renée Zellweger, and Ethan Embry, the film is a time capsule of ’90s youth culture, packed with iconic quotes, a killer soundtrack, and a whole lot of heart. Set over the course of a single chaotic day at a beloved independent record store, Empire Records follows a group of quirky, passionate employees as they fight to save their workplace from being swallowed by the corporate giant “Music Town.” Along the way, they navigate heartbreak, identity crises, and the arrival of washed-up ’80s pop star Rex Manning, whose in-store signing event becomes the catalyst for drama, revelations, and one unforgettable day.
