The 228 Memorial Event: "After Spring, The Tamaki Family..." movie screeningA forgotten chapter of history unfolds through the Tamaki family, descendants of Taiwanese immigrants who came to Japan's Yaeyama Archipelago before World War II. Forced into repatriation, they lived through the 228 Incident and 30 years as stateless refugees under U.S. rule in Okinawa. Now, as the first generation ages, the Tamaki children plan a final journey to Taiwan to reconnect with their roots.

Background Information: Taiwanese in Okinawa - Three Historical Stages
Japanese Rule (1895–1945): Taiwanese and Okinawans were Japanese subjects, free to travel and work.
Post-WWII Dilemma (1945–1971): With Taiwan’s return to the ROC, Okinawa’s Taiwanese faced a crisis—returning meant abandoning their lives, but Japan required renouncing ROC nationality, which Taiwan denied. Many became stateless, without rights or protections.
UN Exit & Naturalization (1971–Present): Taiwan’s UN withdrawal led the ROC to allow foreign citizenship, enabling many to naturalize as Japanese.
二二八紀念活動：《海的彼端》電影放映會
《海的彼端》是一部關於「八重山臺灣移民」的紀錄電影。日本沖繩的八重山諸島，是距離台灣僅三百公里外的小島，戰前移民而來的台灣人在這裡經歷了農業開墾徵召、戰爭期的強制遣返、二二八事件、而後成為美軍統治沖繩時代下的無國籍政治難民三十年。
黃胤毓導演透過玉木家族三代人的故事，以家族史為開端，拍攝這段被歷史遺忘的島嶼移民故事。這群移民在歷史的洪流下，已逐漸隱去台灣身分，卻在返鄉的過程，重新思索身分認同問題。

背景知識：沖繩台灣人 - 三個歷史階段
日本統治（1895–1945）：台灣人與沖繩人同為日本臣民，可自由往來、工作與生活。
戰後困境（1945–1971）：二戰後台灣歸還中華民國，旅居沖繩的台灣人陷入兩難——回台意味著放棄一切，而入籍日本則需放棄中華民國國籍，但台灣政府不允許，導致許多人成為無國籍者，無法享有日本的權利與保障。
退出聯合國與歸化（1971–至今）：台灣退出聯合國後，中華民國允許僑民取得外國國籍，許多旅居沖繩的台灣人因此順利歸化為日本人。
