Movie Nights at Moments Co-op: "The Hour of Liberation has Arrived"

We are excited to present the next Movie Night Fundraiser at Moments Co-op, featuring The Hour of Liberation has Arrived (1974), a film by Heiny Srour.

In the late 1960s, the region of Dhofar in Oman rose up against the British-backed Sultanate in a democratic, Leninist guerrilla revolution. Director Heiny Srour and her team crossed five hundred miles of desert and mountains by foot, under bombardment by the British Royal Air Force, to reach the conflict zone and capture this rare record of the anti-colonial struggle of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Oman and the Arabian Gulf. The film follows the women who arm themselves against colonialism, patriarchy, and capitalism. It was also the first film by an Arab woman shown at Cannes. In Arabic with English subtitles
