Movie Loft presents 'Shag'

Movie Loft goes beyond South of the Border this July at Shadowbox Studio with a screening of the 1988 summertime blast 'Shag'! The year is 1963 and four friends motor down to Myrtle Beach for a last hurrah before one of them gets hitched. Hijinks and dance contests ensue, it's like 'Where the Boys Are' meets 'Dirty Dancing' on the boardwalk!
Zelda Barron directed Phoebe Cates, Annabeth Gish, Bridget Fonda and Page Hannah as the teens on a spree, all set to a super killer soundtrack! We'll partake on VHS as well to get all of the original tunes (many of which didn't make it to the DVD release).
[In 2026 Movie Loft will be showcasing some perhaps under-seen movies that were filmed primarily and prominently in the Old North State (along with a couple of dips below our state's southern border, and many filmed in both). 'Shag' was very much a South Carolina product, with scenes filmed in Florence, Georgetown and Myrtle Beach.]
