Ahoy! Movie Loft chuckles into the New Year at Shadowbox Studio with a screening of the 1994 road-tale comedy 'Chasers'! Dennis Hopper's final feature directorial effort, this romp features two Naval shore patrollers (Tom Berenger, William McNamara) tasked with transporting a prisoner (Erika Eleniak) from Camp Lejeune to Charleston.Shenanigans ensue and along the way we encounter a wild cast featuring Gary Busey, Crispin Glover, Dean Stockwell, Marilu Henner, Frederic Forrest, Seymour Cassel, Bob Dorough and Bitty Schram. Hopper himself shows up as, yes, a traveling lingerie salesman known as Doggie. And maybe the best and last detail of all? The soundtrack features none other than Dwight Yoakam!
[In 2026 Movie Loft will be showcasing some perhaps under-seen movies that were filmed primarily and prominently in the Old North State (along with a couple of dips below our state's southern border, and many filmed in both). 'Chasers' features footage of downtown Wilmington and environs (plus the battleship), along with many locations along the SC coast.]
