Movement and Touch with Rory Ropes

Welcome to Movement and Touch with Rory Ropes of Anatomie Studio! Join us for an afternoon of exploration and connection through movement and touch. In this class, we will explore movement and touch in the context of rope. The objective of this workshop is to become intentional with how we move, and become more conscious of how we use touch and pressure to initiate movement with/in rope. We explore this with the intent to be present with each other and deepen connection through the perspective of both the top and bottom's point of view.

Lessons in this class include:

• Exercises to increase body awareness, to make intentional choices around movement and touch
• Exploration of interpersonal energies with rope
• Body handling and manipulation
• Exploration of how to generate movement with rope
• Tips on rope handling for smoother tying and untying
• Active bottoming
• Exercises for dynamic unstructured and structured tying

Prerequisites: the ability to tie any preferred structured upper body harness

Meet the Teacher: Rory Ropes, Anatomie Studio - London, UK

Rory’s (he/him) passion for Shibari flared when he visited Anatomie Studio in 2020. With a switchy background, Rory enjoys playful & dynamic rope and is a fan of incorporating body manipulation by the rigger alongside rope. Whether self-tying, double tying or labbing inventive new tie combinations, Rory likes to make sure his rope puts the model’s well-being and needs first. He believes that rope can be for every body and likes to adjust, learn and develop ties that enable those with injuries and disabilities to fully experience shibari. He can often be found working on the technical aspects of a tie/rope sequence in order to constantly develop his skills.
