MOVE Day of Remembrance

Schedule

Mon May 13 2024 at 05:00 pm to 08:00 pm

Location

Cobbs Creek Pkwy, Philadelphia, PA, United States | Lansdowne, PA

May 13, 1985 changed the city of Philadelphia forever.
On this day, Philadelphia police dropped a military grade bomb on members of the MOVE organization living at 6221 Osage Ave. 11 MOVE members were murdered and two blocks in the Cobbs Creek community of West Philadelphia were destory.
The 2024 annual commemoration is a special week-long event that will mark the 39th anniversary of the bombing of MOVE and launch The MOVE Activist Archive's first exhibit, "MOVE: The Old Days," which will raise funds for the Reclaim Osage campaign.
On SUNDAY, MAY 12th at 10 AM, join us in showing love to the Cobbs Creek community with a block clean-up and food distribution at Cobbs Creek Parkway and Osage Ave.
On MONDAY, MAY 13th at 5 PM, join us in honoring the lives lost and changed forever at the MOVE historic marker on Cobbs Creek Parkway at Osage Avenue.
From Thursday to Sunday, join us for guided tours of the "MOVE: the Old Days" exhibit housed at the Paul Robeson House and Museum at 4951 Walnut Street in Philadelphia.
All events will raise funds for the Reclaim Osage campaign to preserve 6221 Osage Avenue, which was returned to the Africa family through its purchase in January 2023 by Mike Africa Jr.
