* Due to high demand those living or working in Montgomery County and those who have completed Motivational Interviewing Fundementals will be given priority*
Building on the foundation presented during "Motivational Interviewing; Fundamentals", this presentation will introduce and practice skills to help guide an individual through the change process once engagement has been established. While integrating basic engagement techniques the session will introduce further information on focusing, providing information, evoking change talk, and knowing when and how to move between the three other methods of motivational interviewing. This session is designed for those who already have a basic understanding of motivational interviewing techniques and have completed Motivational Interviewing Fundamentals.

2. potential tools used during the focusing stage of motivational interviewing
3. how to offer a concern and provide information while adhering to the spirit of motivational interviewing
4. strategies for evoking change talk
5. seven signs of readiness for change and willingness to begin planning
Montgomery County Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services has been approved by:
the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist Board to offer continuing education credit hours to Counselors and Social Workers (Provider #RCS111304) and has approved this training for 11 hours (continuing) CEUs;
the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board to offer recognized clock hours to Chemical Dependency Counselors and Prevention Professionals (Provider #50-17863) and has approved this training for 11 hours of CEUs (C2) (P3).
The Ohio Board of Nursing will accept a continuing education activity that has been approved by a board or an agency that regulates a health care profession or related discipline in Ohio including the Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist Board. Information regarding continuing education requirements is available on the OBN website here.
Other licensing boards may also accept these hours, however it is the attendee’s responsibility to establish this prior to attending.
