About this Event

This Mother’s Day, join us to create mini floral arrangements to honor and remember the mothers who live on in our hearts. We’ll have a beautiful assortment of flowers available so you can style a bouquet from your mom’s favorite flower, to a color that reminds you of her, or blooms that tell the story of your love for each other.

Take a moment to write a cherished memory of your mom on a slip of paper and tie it with a ribbon to your bouquet—a simple yet meaningful tribute to the love and legacy she left behind. Come alone or with loved ones or friends, and enjoy time for reflection, remembrance and connection.

Let’s fill the air with the beauty of flowers and the warmth of shared memories.

Small flowers, greenery and ribbons will be available. You are also welcome to bring your own flowers.
This event is free, but please register so we can be sure to have enough flowers and ribbons for all.

The Language of Flowers

In the Victorian era, the meaning of flowers was well understood so that the recipient knew if they received roses it symbolized love, lilies represented devotion, forget-me-nots signified remembrance, and violets conveyed faithfulness.
As you create your mini floral arrangement, consider choosing flowers that speak to your mother’s spirit, your memories of her, or the love you continue to carry in your heart. Let each petal and stem tell a story, just as they did in the language of flowers long ago.

Host

This event will be facilitated by Lakewood’s Community Programs Manager, Amanda Luke. An amateur floral artist with a passion for helping others develop a love of floral arrangements.

Living Memory Tree

Honor and remember your mother or the motherly figures in your life by tying a ribbon to our Living Memory Tree. Ribbons will be available at the front desk. Please use the provided biodegradable ribbons.

The Lakewood Welcome Center

This event takes place in the Community Room in the Welcome Center at Lakewood. This beautiful, state-of-the-art building provides a warm and sunny backdrop for community events, in addition to offering quiet space for families to gather and make arrangements for end-of-life.
