Mothers & Little Ones: Movement, Ritual & Connection
Beach yoga, Ayurvedic wisdom and community for mothers and their little ones.
It's been a few years since I last taught mums and bubs classes, but after being contacted by several women asking if I'd bring them back, I've felt inspired to give them another go.
These classes hold some really special memories for me. And after recently completing a module in Ayurvedic practitioner training focused on postpartum care, I've been thinking more about the importance of creating spaces where mothers feel supported, nourished and connected.
So, I'm bringing a little something back, with a new outdoor twist.
What are these sessions about?
Yes, we'll move our bodies. We'll practice yoga, breathe, connect with nature and explore simple Ayurvedic rituals and reflections that support us through the different seasons of motherhood.
But it's about more than exercise.
It's about having somewhere to go. A reason to get out of the house. A chance to meet other mums who understand that sometimes just getting everyone dressed and out the door is an achievement in itself.
It's about having a space where you can show up exactly as you are, with your little ones alongside you.
There is no pressure to do the whole class, and absolutely no judgement.
Need to pause to feed your baby? Of course. Need to tend to a little meltdown, have a cuddle or take a breather? That's all part of it.
You might move for five minutes and feel genuinely stoked that you made it out of the house. You might move for the full 45 minutes and leave feeling great. You might spend most of the session looking after your little one.
Whatever your morning looks like, you're welcome here.
Babies, toddlers and older children are all welcome. Your little ones can play, explore and build sandcastles while you move, or you can simply enjoy being outside together.
What to expect
We'll spend 45 minutes moving together, with gentle, accessible yoga and a little Ayurvedic wisdom woven through our practice. We'll explore simple themes around nourishment, rest, seasonal living and the small rituals that help us feel supported through motherhood.
Afterwards, you're welcome to stay for an optional picnic. Bring a blanket and something to eat, let the kids play and enjoy some time connecting with other mothers. There's no rush to pack up and leave.
A little trial
I'm putting three sessions in the calendar as a trial to see how these gatherings feel for you and for me. I want to explore what it might look like to offer mums and kids a regular outdoor space to move, connect and spend time together.
For these initial trial sessions, classes are just $10 per mum
Come along, give it a go and help me shape something that I hope will grow into a lovely little community.
The details
When: Thursday mornings at 10am
Where: Sumner beach
Duration: 45 minutes of yoga, with an optional picnic afterwards
Cost: $10 per mum for the trial sessions
Bring your yoga mat, anything your little ones need, and a picnic blanket and snack if you'd like to stay.
You don't need any yoga experience. You don't need to have a baby. You just need to be a mum who would love a little space to move, get outside and connect with other women, with your children alongside you.
Come as you are. We'll figure the rest out together.
