About this Event
Motherless Daughter
A Gathering of Stories, Grief & Remembrance
A 3-hour creative grief gathering for those who carry the experience of mother loss

Losing a mother changes the landscape of a life.

Whether you experienced the loss of your mother in childhood or later in life, the absence can become woven into our identity—quietly influencing how we move through the world, relate to ourselves, and make meaning of our lives.

Motherless Daughter is a gathering for anyone who identifies with the experience of being a motherless daughter. The word daughter is not defined by gender—it is a relationship, a role, and a bond that can hold many different meanings. This gathering welcomes all who feel connected to the experience of losing a mother and carrying the complex grief, love, memories, and stories that remain.

Together, we will create a gentle ceremonial space to honour our mothers, share stories, and connect with others who understand the unique experience of mother loss.

This is a space for remembrance.
A space for storytelling.
A space for grief to be witnessed and held.

Through guided reflection, quiet moments of contemplation, shared stories, and a slow textile-based creative practice, we will work with fabric, fibre, and thread to create a personal piece that honours memory, grief, and connection.

The act of creating with our hands becomes a ritual—a way to slow down, listen inward, and give form to the emotions and memories that can be difficult to express through words alone.

Together, we will explore:

• The stories of the mothers we carry
• The memories, wisdom, and legacies that continue to live within us
• The grief, questions, and emotions that accompany mother loss
• The ways we honour and tend to the relationships that continue beyond physical presence

This gathering is not about moving on or letting go.

It is about creating a place where love and grief can exist together.

It is about finding connection with others who understand.

It is about creating a space of compassion, recognition, and belonging.

No artistic experience is necessary. The creative process will be gentle, intuitive, and reflective. Come with your stories, your memories, and whatever you are carrying.
