About this Event
Motherhood, Unframed: Art and Dialogue on Advancing Birth Equity and Community Birthwork
Join us for an intimate gathering of patrons, community members, and art lovers for a conversation on Black motherhood, birth equity, and community-rooted care.
Following a curator-led walkthrough of Giving You the Best That I Got at Art + Practice, we will gather at LORE Bookstore for a moderated dialogue with curator Dominique Clayton, Fanta Bayoh APRN FNP-C, and Cindy Lopez, an indigenous birthworker who leads Venice Family Clinic’s community-based doula training program at the Inglewood Crenshaw Children and Family Center.
This moderated conversation will explore how stories of Black motherhood told through art, lived experience, and tradition connect to culturally responsive doula care, maternal health, and family wellness, with proceeds supporting doula care and training across South Los Angeles.
