Having a baby is just the beginning…motherhood is for life. In the original musical by Sue Fabisch, “Motherhood The Musical,” four women share their insights, challenges and pleasures at a baby shower. In 90 minutes of fun, you’ll get a peek into the powerful friendship of Amy, a soon-to-be first-time mom; Brooke, a hard-working lawyer and mother; Barb, a stressed-out stay-at-home mother of five; and Tina, a single mom seeking to balance work, her family and her divorce. “Motherhood, the Musical,” is a funny, yet loving look at being a mom at any age.But this won't just be a standard theater show weekend! Just like with all of Ghostlight's theatrical events, there will be interactive community components. We are thrilled to partner with other local nonprofits (to be announced later this year) to bring free resources for community members all weekend long: from postpartum support, how to plan/prevent pregnancy, reproductive health information and more! Additionally we will host workshops leading up to the show weekend where moms can come with their little ones for artistic adventures and support groups surrounding themes of motherhood, and beyond.
This production is made possible in part by an investment of public funds from the Ohio Arts Council (OAC). The OAC is a state agency that funds and supports quality arts experiences to strengthen Ohio communities culturally, educationally, and economically.
Family-friendly arts workshops leading up to the performance will be announced later this year, along with dates for talk back performances!
