Join at North Haven Gardens for a hands-on Kokedama workshop and discover the beauty of this traditional Japanese gardening art. Kokedama, meaning “moss ball,” is a unique planting technique that transforms a plant into a living work of art. In this classroom-style workshop, you’ll learn the history and fundamentals of Kokedama while creating your own moss-wrapped plant to take home. This beginner-friendly class includes step-by-step instruction, all materials needed to create one Kokedama, and plant care guidance to help your creation thrive long after the workshop.
During class, you’ll:

- Create your own handcrafted moss ball planter
- Learn proper watering and care techniques
- Gain confidence working with plants in a fun, supportive environment
Whether you’re a seasoned plant enthusiast or just beginning your plant journey, this workshop is designed to be relaxing, creative, and approachable for all skill levels.Hosted by in collaboration with North Haven Gardens. $75 per person. All supplies are included: a 4" tropical plant, a custom display dish, and a care sheet to take home. Space is limited to ensure personalized instruction.

Bonnie Phillips is the founder of a Dallas–based plant studio known for its signature kokedama creations. Kokedama, a traditional Japanese moss ball planting technique, transforms houseplants into beautiful sculptural pieces that can be displayed on a dish or hung like living art.
Through , Bonnie shares her love of kokedama by creating handcrafted pieces and teaching hands-on workshops that show people just how approachable and fun this unique planting style can be. Her goal is to help people feel confident getting their hands dirty, trying something new, and bringing a little more green into their homes.
