NC Raga Revival is a monthly concert series showcasing the music and dance of the Indian diaspora and collaborations with other world music artists

Smt Purvi Patel is a holder of the Sangeet Visharad (BA in Music). She is a devoted disciple of Padma Shri Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan. Purvi’s musical journey began at a very young age under the guidance of her father, Shri Jagdishchandra Patel, a Sangeet Praveen and disciple of Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan. This deep-rooted musical legacy has shaped her artistry and commitment to Indian classical music. Based in Cary, North Carolina, Purvi balances her career as an IT professional with her devotion to music. She continues to perform regularly and collaborate with artists both in the U.S. and India, always seeking to grow and share the beauty of classical music. Purvi teaches sitar as faculty at the SPK Academy of Music, sharing her love and passion for the instrument with the next generation of musicians!
Ramya Bhat is a native of Kumta Taluk in Uttara Kannada District, Karnataka. She is a disciple of Dr. Ashok Huggannavar, a renowned Hindustani vocalist from Dharwad. She was a scholar at the ITC Sangeet Research Academy, Kolkata, under the guidance of Vidushi Shubhra Guha in 2012-2013.
She was a Senior Consultant with Deloitte before moving to the US earlier this year.
Along with her sister Reshma Bhat as one half of the ‘Bhat Sisters’ duo, Ramya has performed across India, including Aarohi by Pancham Nishad (Mumbai), Dharwad, Kundgol Vade, Pt. Jaytheertha Mevundi’s ‘Swaratheertha’ concert, Pt. Bhimsen Joshi’s Birth Centenary series and the Uttar-Dakshin series in Bangalore. In 2015, she was selected to represent Indian music at Ethnos Sweden. Now a resident of Morrisville, she is continuing her musical journey in the US.
Deepak Kulkarni comes from the cradle of Hindustani classical music - Dharwad in Karnataka and developed a deep interest in music at a very young age. He is trained in both Harmonium and Tabla instruments. Deepak has received training in the Lucknow Gharana style from Shri Debasish Choudhuri. He is receiving advanced training in Harmonium from Pt Vyasmurti Katti. He has performed solo and has accompanied artists in the US as well as several visiting artists from India. As a promoter of classical music, he is actively involved in organizing concerts for the younger generation in his hometown of Dharwad. He also provides training for young artists interested in learning the nuances of Indian classical music.
Sandeep Hattangady has pursued Tabla for more than two decades, learning from eminent Tabla Gurus including Shri Prabhakar Betrabet, Ustad Shabbir Nisar and Pandit Mohan Balvalli. He has performed in India, UK and the United States, playing both solo and accompanying artists such as Pandit K Sridhar, Shri Anirban Dasgupta and Dr. M Narmadha among others. Based in Morrisville, Sandeep balances his musical interest in performing and teaching Tabla alongside his professional pursuits in the semiconductor industry. He has co-authored the book, TIHAAI, with his Guru Shri Prabhakar Betrabet for students of Tabla and musicvc
