We are very happy to announce our 84th Raga Revival will be held at The Forum by Taurya in Morrisville on Feb 8th 2024 at 4pm
The Forum is located at
4000 Bearcat Way, Suite 100
Morrisville, NC
NC Raga Revival is a monthly concert series showcasing the music and dance of the Indian diaspora and collaborations with other world music artists.
We are excited to offer a triple feature in the following order

Artist Bios
Omkar Mohile is a sophomore at Panther Creek High School who is passionate about music and sports. He has been learning Hindustani Classical Music since he was 7 and is currently studying for his Visharad Poorna exam, guided by Ms. Meghna Gherkar. Additionally, he also plays piano and learns Western music, having performed in choral music performances with Panther Creek High School, the North Carolina Honors Chorus, and the prestigious North Carolina Master Chorale at NC State University. A STEM student at heart, Omkar aspires to study astrophysics and aerospace engineering post graduation. Besides music, he also enjoys watching and playing cricket for his state team.
Krishna Mariwalla belongs to the Farrukhabad Gharana, and has been learning Tabla for 10 years from Sri Suryaksha Deshpande, a senior disciple of Pandit Arvind Mulgaonkar. Krishna has participated in several Tabla solo competitions and performances. He enjoys learning various compositions under the guidance of his guru. Amongst the various taals, Krishna loves playing Teentaal and keherwa. In his free time, he enjoys playing basketball and following the great Tabla masters.

Rasika Joshi has been learning Hindustani Claasical music for past 10 years. Her mother in law Mrs Meena Joshi who is a disciple of Padma Vibhushan Kishori Amonkar , was her first teacher. Currently Rasika is learning Hindustani Classical music from Smt Sejal Vaidya in RTP and Ustad Ghulam Abbas Khan in Mumbai.Rasika has been singing Sugam Sangeet in various fund raising events in RTP and nearby places for past few years. She likes all genres of music but fusion of Hindustani classical vocals on western instruments is her most favorite
Dr. Ajay Dholakia is a long-time Triangle resident. He comes from a family of Indian Hindustani Classical musicians and has been playing and teaching Tabla in the area for many years. He started learning tabla during his highschool days in Indore, India. He has played percussion and tabla with different rock, fusion and folk music bands. and has accompanied many visiting classical vocalists and instrumentalists. He continues his tabla journey at the Anindo Chatterjee School of Tabla.
Bharat Trivedi is the son of Late Pandit Ramchandra Trivedi (Gwalior Gharana) and Smt Sangeeta Trivedi He loves playing harmonium and keyboard and is currently pursuing his vocal musical journey under the tutelage of Ustad Ghulam Abbas Khan (Rampur Sahaswan Gharana). He has released a bhajan composed by him by Bhajan Samrat Anup Jalota and also has a YouTube channel BRSangeet where he releases cover and karaoke versions of popular Hindi songs.

John Stephens is a sarode, surbahar and sitar player based in Durham, North Carolina. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Jazz Composition at Berkley College of Music (2006) and his MFA in North Indian music at CalArts (2011). John is a performing musician, recording artist, music educator and student of sarode maestro Ustad Aashish Khan, eldest son of Ustad Ali Akbar. John is the author of “The Microtones of Bharata’s Natyashastra,” Volume 6 of Analytical Approaches to World Music(aawmjournal.com). He also wrote the introduction and transcribed Aashish Khan’s music in Sangeet: Legacy of the Maihar Gharana.
VW Chitnis began learning Sitar at the age of 15. He received his training at the Ali Akbar College of Music under the guidance of Ustad Ali Akbar Khan. He is the founder of North Carolina Raga Revival as well as a School of Rag Indian Music Academy located in Raleigh NC and Brooklyn NY.
He has received training on the Indian violin instruments, dilruba and esraj , by the late Sarangi Maestro Pt Ramesh Misra. He is currently learning sitar from Pandit Krishna Mohan Bhatt. He lives in Raleigh NC with his wife Jill Taylor and daughter Nikhila Chitnis
Prathamesh Deshpande is currently learning from maestro Shri Aditya Kalyanpur,disciple of Ustad Zakir Hussain and Ustad Alla Rakha, and has been learning tabla for the past 17 years. He is pursuing his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from NC State University. He holds Sangeet Visharad- Tabla and has played for various concerts and occasions in India and the US for Hindustani Classical and Carnatic music. Prathamesh has also played for the Chamber Orchestra at NC State University Music Department and Raleigh Civic Symphony Orchestra. He is an active learner of music and aims to grow his career in both Mechanical Engineering and music.
