Morningside Winter Hike

This hike is perfect for anyone looking to enjoy a refreshing outdoor experience while discovering a true Scarborough gem. Along the way, we’ll enjoy beautiful nature views and the quiet beauty of winter as we follow Highland Creek southeast, looping back to our starting point.

We’ll also keep an eye out for signs of wildlife along the trail, as this area is full of birds, deer, and more!

Length: 6 km

Pace of hike: 4km per hour - Moderate

Difficulty: Intermediate

Terrain Type: Ungroomed, snowy trails with some possible ice. Steep inclines and declines. Ice cleats are a must!

Dog-friendly: No

Family-friendly: No

Stroller-friendly: (paved trails accessible for strollers) No

Hiking Boots: Absolutely essential - hikers MUST have these to take part.

Crampons/ice cleats: Absolutely essential - you MUST have Crampons or Ice cleats to take part in this hike, otherwise we will not be able to let you participate for your own safety.

Walking Pole: Recommended but not essential.

Registration fee: $4.07 + Eventbrite fees though if you cannot afford it, please contact us at [email protected] to request a Pay- What- You- Can registration based on your circumstance.

Limited tickets: This hike is restricted to 15 registrants. Tickets will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis and are non-refundable.

Pre-hike email: Registrants will receive additional details by email the day before the hike, such as what to bring on the day, what to wear, etc.

Weather precautions: The hike will take place regardless of rain, wind, or snow so please dress accordingly! We will only cancel or postpone the hike if weather conditions are considered extreme or dangerous, in which case registered hikers will be informed 48 hours in advance.
