Come and join us in the colorful musical world of Brazil's backlands!The opera ‘the guitars of death’ was written by composer Elomar Figueira Mello in the tradition of early baroque Italian opera, but is also full of elements from the culture of the Sertão of Bahia: melodic and rhythmic lines, recitatives referring to ancient troubadour art and Iberian Romanticism. Henrique Gomide (workshop and piano), Joao Luis Nogueira (guitar) and the Apollo Ensemble will introduce the colorful musical world of the interior of Brazil with a lecture, workshop and music.
TUESDAY 29 APRIL
10:30 - 13:30 Lecture : Together with Brazilian Jazz pianist and arranger of the opera, Henrique Gomide, we dive deeper into the world of Elomar. What did the original sound like? How was the opera created? After this lecture, you will know all about the opera ‘the guitars of death’ and much more!
