Join us for Morning Calm with Mark Petrosyan, pianist from the Royal College of Music, who will be playing works by Rachmaninoff, Scriabin and Liszt.

Morning Calm is a short piano recital beginning at 8.40am, consisting of around 10-12 minutes of music followed by a few minutes' silence for reflection and meditation before ending with brief prayers for the day ahead. You are most welcome to stay for the whole recital or if you would prefer not to stay for the Christian conclusion to leave just before the end. Morning Calm aims to offer a reflective and calm start to the day for people of any faith or none in the hustle and bustle of the West End of London.
As always admission is free.
Mark Petrosyan is a former student of the Central Music School–Academy of Performing Arts, studying in the class of honoured worker of culture of the Russian Federation, Vasily Ivanovich Ermakov. At the age of five Mark began preparatory classes at the A. B. Goldenweiser Children’s Music School, studying with N. V. Ilyina. In first grade he became winner of the 1st Prize at the 18th Open City Festival of Polyphonic Music. That same year, he was awarded 1st Prize at the “World of Russian Music” festival. In 2017, he won 1st Prize at the 20th Open Festival of Polyphonic Music and became a laureate of the 7th Open Festival Gnesins. In the same year, he won 1st Prize at the international music competition “Grand Prize Virtuoso” and performed at the Royal Albert Hall in London in April.
In 2020, Mark entered the Central Music School of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory. In April 2021, he became a 1st Prize laureate at the 30th Anniversary International Competition of Pianists and Piano Ensembles “Masterpieces of Piano Music,” organized by the Moscow Conservatory. In June 2021, he won 1st Prize in the second age category at the international instrumental competition “Armonia.” In May 2022, he became a 1st Prize laureate and received a special award for artistic expression at the 2nd International Competition of Performing Arts “ART TALENTS.”
In 2023, Mark became a diploma winner of the 19th International Competition of the Central Music School “Dedication to Sergei Rachmaninov,” placing among the top five performers. He was twice invited to the Sirius Educational Center and was selected to participate in the All-Russian Competition of Young Musicians “CONSTELLATION”. Mark has also participated in numerous master classes with outstanding performers and distinguished teachers, further developing his musical style, interpretive depth, and artistic vision. Mark began his studies at the Royal College of Music in London in 2025.
