MORABEZA - Afroluso Party
About this Event
MORABEZA is a celebration of Afro-Luso culture, bringing together the music, food, and traditions of Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, and São Tomé & Príncipe for an evening at New Art Exchange. Inspired by the Cape Verdean word morabeza, meaning warmth, hospitality and togetherness, the event invites everyone to experience the rich cultures and vibrant communities that connect these nations.
Running order of the event:
- 7:00 pm – Doors Open | Food Traders Open
The evening begins with doors opening at 7:00 pmm. Guests are invited to arrive, enjoy a drink, sample traditional food including Cachupa and Bifana, and soak up the atmosphere as the night gets underway. - 8:00pm – 10:00pm | Kizomba, Semba & Funaná Dancing
From 8:00 pm, Lenny will lead a social dancing session featuring Kizomba, Semba and Funaná. Whether you're an experienced dancer or trying these styles for the first time, this is a chance to learn, dance and celebrate together in a welcoming environment. - 10:00 pm2:00 am | Live Performances & DJs
At 10:00 pm00pm, the energy turns up with a programme of live performances from Pardas na Casa, D1ZZY and ZULU, followed by DJ sets from DJ Booster and DJ Tuga. Expect a soundtrack of Afrobeats, Kizomba, Kuduro, Semba, Funaná, Coladeira and more, keeping the dancefloor alive until 2:00 am.
More than just a party, MORABEZA is an opportunity to celebrate culture through music, dance, food and community. Whether you're reconnecting with your heritage, discovering Afro-Luso culture for the first time, or simply looking for an incredible night out, you'll find a warm welcome and an atmosphere that brings people together.
The event takes place on Saturday, 29th August, until 2:00 am at New Art Exchange, Nottingham.
