Riverview Park and the Allegheny Observatory will celebrate becoming caretakers of a NASA MoonTree.
About this Event

NASA's Artemis Mission flew tree seeds around the Moon. Upon return to Earth, the U.S. Forestry Service cared for them as they grew to sapplings. Riverview Park and the Allegheny Observatory will be caretakers for a Sweet Gum MoonTree as it grows as inspiration and connection between the natural world on Earth and our exploration of space.

There will be activities around the building that are available for everyone. Additional activities and tours of the Observatory require a free reservation with a timed entry. Many activities for elementary aged children.

The Allegheny Observatory is part of the Physics and Astronomy Department at the University of Pittsburgh and is dedicated to outreach through events like this, field trips, tours, lectures, science programming on the road and a high school observing club.
