Moonshine Fusion Dance Festival: JUST TEASIN’ - Burlesque Workshop

An introductory mini lesson in Burlesque. Naimah, also known as Kalypso Kraken in the burlesque world, offers a glimpse behind the curtain into the art of the tease with burlesque style movement, act building techniques, storytelling, costuming tips, history, and some resources on where to further your burlesque education. We will explore the bits and glitz behind the glamor and discuss what burlesque is and is not. Please bring with you an extra layer of any garment to peel off and a bowl of confidence even if it's half full at the start.

Naimah is an award-winning belly dancer and director of award winning troupe, Amandari Dance Company, from Baltimore, Maryland. Over the past couple of years, she has unleashed her particular brand of mythical glam and magic around Charm City and beyond as a burlesque performer known as Kalypso Kraken. When not sinking ships and submerging hearts, she is also a seamstress, figure art model, certified group fitness instructor, licensed makeup artist, and novice whip cracker. With her passion in so many art related ventures, her style is best described as eclectic, eccentric, and versatile. Over the years, Naimah has produced many shows in Maryland and is currently the co-producer of "Art of the Belly" belly dance festival in Ocean City, Maryland and is a committee member for Charm City Burlesque and Variety.
