About this Event
Join our local Moonee Valley Walk Against Family Violence in Queens Park at 11:30am on Wednesday 27th November to help create a future where we are all safe, equal and respected.
What is this event about?
This event marks the beginning of Moonee Valley City Council's actions for the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, a global campaign started back in 1991.
Our local campaign, developed and delivered in partnership with cohealth, with support from Respect Victoria and Safe & Equal, is focusing on the theme 'Step Up': What can we all do, right where we are, to create positive change and see people no longer using violence in their relationships?
What can I expect on the day?
Speeches at the Sound Stage: Join with fellow community members from 11:30am to hear a special Welcome to Country, followed by speeches from Council and cohealth representatives as well as two powerful local anti-violence advocates: Emily Unity and Mary. All will be joined on stage by an Auslan interpreter.
Walk around the lake: After the speeches, we will begin a short walk around the lake. For those who cannot do so, or would prefer not to do so, seating will be available at the Sound Stage. Whether you're walking or seated, we encourage you to connect with those around you and talk about stepping up!
Lunch: When the walk is finished, a light lunch will be available to all. Vegan, vegetarian, halal and gluten free options will be available.
Accessibility
If there's anything we can do to support your participation on the day, please get in touch. The following information may be useful:
